Това е станало със заповед на назначения от областния управител на Видин Иво Атанасов за временно изпълняващ длъжността кмет на общината Юлиян Петров. Основанието му е, че “нови срутвания във вътрешния двор и опасност от нови такива, които може да застрашат живота и здравето на посетители и служители”. Затварянето на историческия обект е за неопределено време. По-рано през годината се срути част от стена на крепостта “Баба Вида”, която е национален паметник на културата. Тогава от ръководството на Регионалния исторически музей във Видин казаха за bTV, че са изпратили протокол за състоянието на крепостта до Министерството на културата още на 8 август. Въпреки инцидента, туристическият обект остана отворен за посетители. “Състоянието на “Баба Вида” е такова не от сега за съжаление. От много години не са се предприемали по-солидни дейности по нейната реставрация и консервация и за съжаление дойде моментът, когато се случи нещо лошо и слава богу че няма пострадали”, каза Христина Кирилова, директор РИМ-Видин. През март на историческата забележителност бе извършен ремонт на покрива на две от кулите.
