В оценяващата комисия за първи път се осигурява участие на представители на Министерството на външните работи, на национално представените работодателски организации, на експерти от научните среди, на образователните институции и на неправителствените организации, посочват от Министерството. Всички те са с доказан опит и експертиза в областите на външноикономическото сътрудничество, търговията, инвестициите, бизнес средата, международното право и други, с оглед предмета на дейност на СТИВ. Според изискванията на обявения конкурс за търговски представители, кандидатите трябва да притежават висше образование – магистър, свободно да владеят общоприетия език на държавата, за която кандидатстват, както и задължително да владеят английски език. В критериите са заложени още дигитална компетентност, трудов или служебен стаж от минимум 6 години и доказан опит в областта на външноикономическите и търговските отношения. Заложени са и специфични изисквания включващи познания относно икономическото развитие на страната, за която се кандидатства, както и на двустранните отношения на страната ни с нея. Също така познания върху нормативната уредба и върху международните задължения на България, свързани със спецификата на работата в СТИВ. Кандидатите, които бъдат допуснати до следващия етап от процедурата, ще трябва да представят анализ на съществуващите двустранни външноикономически и търговски отношения на България с държавата, за която се кандидатства. Акцент следва да бъде поставен върху потенциалните възможности за развитие, инвестиции и търговия през следващите 4 години. Проверката на чуждоезиковата подготовка ще бъде извършена чрез специализиран изпит за установяване на съответното ниво, а дигиталната компетентност ще бъде проверена чрез полагането на специализиран тест. Обявените 23 свободни позиции за търговски представители в Службите по търговско-икономически въпроси са както следва – за 8 европейски града – Берлин, Копенхаген, Лисабон, Осло (с акредитация за Исландия), Братислава, Истанбул, Прага и Берн (с акредитация за Лихтенщайн); 13 позиции за държави от Азия, Африка и Америка, които включват Алжир, Делхи, Джакарта (с възможна акредитация за Сингапур и Малайзия), Техеран, Аман, Отава, Доха, (с акредитация за Кувейт и Оман), Пекин, Хавана, Дубай, Вашингтон и Чикаго; и две позиции за страните от ОНД, които включват Баку (с акредитация за Туркменистан) и Алмати (с възможна акредитация за Киргизстан).
